GUIDE TO BUYING A TUMBLE DRYER

Whether we are in winter or summer, a hot sunny day can quickly turn into a cloudy day, making the weather unreliable when you need to hang out your laundry. This is when a tumble dryer will come in handy. No matter what the weather is outside, a tumble dryer will efficiently dry your damp clothes.

There are three types of dryers that you have the option to choose between. The three types are:

Vented Tumble Dryers

Vented tumble dryers have an exhaust hose, that will remove warm air, as there is no water reservoir. Warm air is usually blown around the drum, which causes the moisture in your clothes to evaporate. These dryers need to be placed close to a vent, or window, so that the exhaust hose can expel the damp air from your dryer safely.
These dryers are popular, as they are cost-effective dryers, however they usually have an energy rating between B - D.

Condenser Tumble Dryers

Condenser dryers have a container that will collect water form your damp laundry. Unlike vented tumble dryers, these dryer do not have an exhaust hose, therefore making it quick to set up and use. Water is collected in the container, which will need to be emptied when it is full.
Although condenser dryers are more costly than vented tumble dryers, they are more energy efficient. They have an energy rating between A+++ to B.

Heat Pump Tumble Dryers

Like Condensor dryers, they do not have an exhaust hose and they are more energy efficient than vented dryers. Heat pump dryers will dry laundry at a lower temperature and humid air from the dryer is passed through a heat pump for re-use, which will conserve the heat thus keeping energy consumption to a minimum.
Heat Pump dryers are said to be the most energy-efficient dryers, as they do not require a lot of electricity. Like condenser dryers, these dryers also have an energy rating between A+++ to B.

Both a heat pump tumble dryer and a condenser dryer are designed to dry clothing efficiently. However, the main difference between the two is how they generate heat to do the job.

Size It Up

Like washing machines, tumble dryers come in a variety of sizes, to meet your family needs. It is important to consider how many family members are in your household and how much laundry you usually wash and dry

5 - 7kg – dryers that are perfect for one or two people sharing a flat or home

8 - 9kg – ideal for small family of three or four

10kg – up – dryers that are ideal for a family of five or more
Note: When it comes to the dimensions of your tumble dryer, it is advised that you always add 5cm to the depth, just to accommodate pipes that are required for connection.
As the world and technology are constantly changing, new features are developed to create a tumble dryer that is efficient for your household. Additional features include the following:
